Abstract

This study aims to design an Islamic signage system to improve navigation and user comfort at Masjid Jami’ Nurul Huda, Bekasi Regency. The research is motivated by the lack of effective signage within the mosque environment, including poor readability, inconsistent design, and the absence of an integrated wayfinding system, which often leads to confusion among worshippers in locating key facilities such as prayer areas and ablution spaces. This research applies a user-centered design approach using the design thinking method, which consists of four stages: analysis, concept development, design, and evaluation. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation to identify user needs and existing problems. The design process incorporates Islamic visual elements, appropriate typography, color contrast, and clear symbols to ensure readability and accessibility. The results indicate that a well-designed signage system significantly improves spatial orientation, reduces user confusion, and enhances overall comfort within the mosque environment. Furthermore, integrating Islamic values into the visual design strengthens the identity of the mosque while maintaining a harmonious and conducive atmosphere for worship. In conclusion, the proposed Islamic signage system serves as an effective solution for improving navigation and user experience in mosque environments and can be applied as a reference for similar religious public spaces.
